Sign the Petiton: Let’s tell Congress and the President to invest more in Peacebuilding

/
Over the next week or two, Congress will be working on our budget. Important peacebuilding funding could be on the table. Our federal budget totals some $3.5 trillion dollars each year while these three peacebuilding initiatives cost only $110 million combined. At just .003% of our budget they deserve our vocal support and the support of the US Congress.

Tell Congress that Second Chances Matter to You!

/
Right now, there's a law called the Second Chance Act that recently expired and needs to be reauthorized. In 2008, it was passed by bipartisan majorities of both Houses of Congress, funding over 600 programs in 49 states to reduce recidivism, and help ex-offenders reintegrate into their communities. Ask the President to support UN Resolution for Establishment of Infrastructures to Support the Culture of Peace

Join us in urging President Obama, UN Ambassador Samantha Power and the UN General Assembly to support a resolution for Establishment of Infrastructures to Support the Culture of Peace.

Tell Congress: Support International Violence Against Women Act

/
The International Violence Against Women Act, H.R. 3571/S. 2307, formalizes the existence of a Senior Coordinator for Gender Equality and Women's Empowerment in USAID and the State Department Office of Global Women's Issues while expanding their role and powers. Under current law, both offices could be eliminated on a whim by an unfriendly President.

Tell Congress: Fund International Peacebuilding

/
Right now, Committees in the House and Senate are drafting the State Department and Foreign Operations Appropriations Bills, and this year, because of how Congress has scheduled votes, there will be virtually no opportunities for amendments. That means that we have to act right now to make sure important Peacebuilding programs will be fully funded in 2015. Your voice matters.

Youth PROMISE Act! Sign Petition

/
The Youth PROMISE Act (Prison Reduction through Opportunities, Mentoring, Intervention, Support, and Education) is bipartisan legislation (H.R. 1318 & S. 1307) that will give our communities the support and funding they need to effectively address youth violence issues. By specifically focusing on violence prevention and intervention strategies, this bill ensures we are funding programs that save lives and give every young person the opportunity to meet his or her potential.
