Women’s Health Protection Act of 2023

HR 12 / S 701- Women’s Health Protection Act of 2023

Take Action Now

This bill prohibits governmental restrictions on the provision of, and access to, abortion services.

Before fetal viability, governments may not restrict providers from

  • using particular abortion procedures or drugs,
  • offering abortion services via telemedicine, or
  • immediately providing abortion services if delaying risks the patient’s health.

Furthermore, governments may not require providers to

  • perform unnecessary medical procedures,
  • provide medically inaccurate information, or
  • comply with credentialing or other conditions that do not apply to providers who offer medically comparable services to abortions.

Additionally, governments may not require patients to make medically unnecessary in-person visits before receiving abortion services or disclose their reasons for obtaining services.

Access to Counsel Act of 2023

HR 666 and S 342- Access to Counsel Act of 2023

Take Action Now

This bill provides various protections for covered individuals subject to secondary or deferred inspections when seeking admission into the United States. Covered individuals include U.S. nationals, lawful permanent residents, non-U.S. nationals (aliens under federal law) in possession of a visa, returning asylees, and refugees.

The Department of Homeland Security must ensure that a covered individual subject to secondary or deferred inspection has a meaningful opportunity to consult with counsel and certain related parties, such as a relative, within an hour of the start of the secondary inspection and as necessary during the inspection process. The counsel and related party must be allowed to advocate on behalf of the covered individual, including by providing evidence and information to the examining immigration officer.

A lawful permanent resident subject to secondary or deferred inspection may not abandon lawful permanent resident status until the individual has had a meaningful opportunity to seek advice from counsel, unless the individual voluntarily and knowingly waives in writing this opportunity to seek counsel’s advice.

Promoting a Resolution to the Tibet-China Conflict Act

Support HR 533 or S 138- Promoting a Resolution to the Tibet-China Conflict Act

Take Action Now

Department of State reports on human rights and religious freedom have consistently documented repression by the People’s Republic of China authorities against Tibetans as well as acts of defiance and resistance by Tibetan people against the People’s Republic of China policies.

“Tibet has maintained throughout its history a distinctive and sovereign national, cultural, and religious identity separate from that of China and, except during periods of illegal Chinese occupation, has maintained a separate and sovereign political and territorial identity”. They need our support now!

Identifying Mass Shooters Act

HR 563- Identifying Mass Shooters Act

Take Action Now

To direct the National Institute of Justice to collect, study, and analyze online content created by mass shooters in an effort to early identify potential mass shooters.

Perpetrators of mass shootings have utilized various online channels to declare their intent to commit violence through manifestos, blog posts, social media posts, and direct messages prior to committing acts of terror.

Inadequate oversight and accountability mechanisms on online platforms creates an environment that enables hate speech, extremism, radicalization, and violence. This would give the funding and human power behind stopping these heinous acts before they happen!

Ethan’s Law

HR 660 / S 173- Ethan’s Law

Take Action Now

To amend chapter 44 of title 18, United States Code, to require the safe storage of firearms, and for other purposes.

Federal Firearm Licensee Act

HR 1478- Federal Firearm Licensee Act

Take Action Now

A growing body of evidence demonstrates that gun dealers’ sales practices affect the probability of guns getting to criminals and that policies designed to hold gun sellers accountable can curtail the diversion of guns to criminals.

Federal laws governing firearm dealers have not been updated in over 30 years, contain safeguards that protect dealers who engage in illegal practices from adverse enforcement action, frustrate law enforcement efforts to curb gun trafficking and violence and are, thus, inadequate to meet the realities of the twenty-first century.

As a reminder, there are numerous steps to enacting a bill into law.

  • The first step is to introduce it, with a Sponsor who is the author of the bill.
  • Then, the bill is assigned to various associated committees for review.
  • The leadership of these committees decide what will be discussed.

After that, there are more steps, outlined in the Working with Congress page on this website.

Each one of us has the power to communicate with our Members of Congress, and with the leads of the Committees, to let them know that any particular piece of legislation is important to us. The greater the noise we make, the greater the chance that the legislation will be heard in Committee and moved forward! So let your voice be heard!
