Petition! Restricting First Use of Nuclear Weapons Act of 2017
Please call and write your Members of Congress and request they sign on to critical legislation ensuring that no president can unilaterally launch a nuclear war. HR 669/S200, the Restricting First Use of Nuclear Weapons Act of 2017. As president of the United States, Donald Trump currently has supreme authority to preemptively launch a nuclear strike. NO president should have the exclusive power to end all life.
We can change that. Two members of Congress, Rep. Ted Lieu and Sen. Ed Markey, have proposed urgent legislation to prevent the U.S. president from starting a nuclear war without a declaration of war by Congress.

The terrifying power of a system built for speed and mass destruction is currently at the president’s sole discretion. We all are aware of how dangerous it is to let any one person have the unchecked power to destroy the entire world with the push of a button.
Call on Congress to support HR 669/S 200 keep us safe by making it illegal for any President start a nuclear war. The president is the only person who can order the use of nuclear weapons and there are no checks and balances on that authority.
Only Congress can declare war, and that authority should apply to a nuclear first strike as well. CALL and ask your Representatives to please co-sponsor HR 669/S200 to make our national and the entire globe safer by prohibiting the president from taking a pre-emptive nuclear step.
